Why do therapists charge cancellation fees?
It aims to reduce the income lost from client cancellations, late rescheduled or missed appointments. If a client cancels or reschedules the therapist loses that income.
Most practices report between 10-30% of clients rescheduling a day or 2 before appointments or cancelling. This means a therapist will lose up to 30% of their income a week which is not great. We only charge for cancellations with less than 48 hours notice, but often those with 3-4 days notice can not be recouped by new new bookings.
We have also found that having a cancellation policy reduces the level of late cancellations or rescheduled appointments.
What is our cancellation fee?
- Less than 24 hours notice of a cancellation, missed or rescheduled appointment – full fee applies.
